Despite its small town atmosphere, Cresson offers railfans many of the things they would find in a larger setting. There are four restaurants in town where you can watch trains while eating. Within walking distance there are two convenience stores: Sheetz and Sheehan's. Both have food and gasoline, and are open 24 hours.
A short walk from the Inn, The Heritage Park observation platform offers a track-level vantage point of the mainline and a close-up view of the engine terminal across the tracks. You will not wait very long for a train in Cresson; at least sixty-five trains and countless helper movements rumble past our front door daily.
