Cresson, PA (April 27, 2023) – The Station Inn B&B, a historic bed and breakfast in Cresson, PA, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, the inn is hosting a community party on July 15th on Front Street in front of the inn.
The Station Inn was founded in 1993 by Tom Davis, who purchased the former railroad hotel and converted it into a bed and breakfast for rail enthusiasts. The inn has been a popular destination for travelers ever since, offering comfortable accommodations, delicious breakfasts, and friendly service. The Lang family purchased the Inn in 2022, in order to maintain and restore its historic charm. “We are excited to celebrate 30 years of memories with our customers and the community” said Leah Lang, co-owner. “The Station Inn has always been special to us and we are honored to carry it forward.”
New for 2023 is the recently renovated meeting and event space in the basement, which features flexible seating for up to 25. This room is adjacent to the original 1904 bar, with its ornate ceiling, tile floor, and cherry pillars that are a “delight to the eye”. The bar area is currently being considered for a future coffee shop or cocktail bar.
The community party on July 15th will be a fun and festive event for the whole family. We plan to celebrate with the amazing and supportive Cresson community. Attendees can expect live music, food, and activities for all ages, information on local vendors, and a tour of The Station Inn with details of the inn’s history and our plans for the future. The party will be held from 12 noon to 7:30pm on Front Street in front of the Inn.
Also honoring the 30th Anniversary, the B&B is conducting a monthly themed photo contest through Facebook and Instagram, where winners receive a $30 gift certificate for a future stay at the Inn. The Inn is also launching a new artist-in-residence program. The program will periodically feature a different artist, and the artists will be given the opportunity to exhibit their work in the inn’s new event space. Serving as curator and as the first artist-in-residence will be noted photographer Michael Froio, whose work focuses on the presence of railroads in the American landscape. His ongoing series, From The Main Line, “examines a landscape impacted by 250 years of transportation history by tracing one of the largest railroad networks of the 19th and 20th Centuries…” including the former Pennsylvania Railroad main line that passes the Inn. Froio’s work resides in the permanent collections of the Library of Congress, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Center for Rail Photography & Art, and has been published in numerous scholarly journals and books. His work will be on display in the inn’s gallery beginning in July.
The Station Inn is also offering new 30th anniversary merchandise for sale. The merchandise includes t-shirts, hats, mugs, and other items. The merchandise is available for purchase online and at the inn.
